NH Farm to Restaurant Connection Named Best of NH 2006 The NH Farm to Restaurant Connection, an organization that helps connect local farm and food producers with local restaurants, was recently named New Hampshire Magazines Best of NH 2006 in the Perfect Partnership category. The NH Farm to Restaurant Connection (NHFRC) represents a perfect partnership between New Hampshire eating establishments and New Hampshire farmers and food producers. NHFRC itself is a collaboration of organizations and individuals including the NH Dept. of Agriculture, Markets & Food, the NH Lodging & Restaurant Association, the NH Farmers Market Association, North Country Resource Conservation & Development Council, Atlantic Culinary Academy, Southern New Hampshire University Culinary Program, Slow Food, UPS, farmers, chefs, nutritionists and distributors. NHFRC recently became a standing committee of the NH Made organization, a membership group that promotes New Hampshire made products and services under the logo New Hampshires Own, a product of Yankee Pride. NHFRC is the presenter of the popular NH Growers Dinner Series
that began in 2004. Growers Dinners are events at host restaurants where
all, or a majority of the menu offerings feature local farm and food products
and their producers. Chefs create special dishes that showcase these local
products. Menus are created to promote the event, and to use as on-going public
relations for both the farms and participating restaurants. These programs also
help to heighten awareness among the public for the quality, variety and
availability of local products throughout New Hampshire. Six events are planned
for 2006 as follows:
Experience the Best of New Hampshire and look for local foods when dining out. For more information about upcoming Growers Dinners and other NHFRC activities, visit www.nhfarmtorestaurant.com. NHFRC has also produced the NH Farm to Restaurant Dining Guide available on the website and in print from the NH Dept. of Agriculture, Markets & Food. Contact:
