Inn at Danbury to Host Next NH Growers Dinner The 2005 New Hampshire Growers' Dinner series continues on July 31 as the Inn at Danbury and its restaurant the Alphorn Bistro takes center stage. Innkeepers and hosts for the event are Alexandra and Robert Graf. The award winning Alphorn Bistro specializes in German cuisine and will feature the taste creations of chef and co-owner, Bob Graf, utilizing the products of local farms and recipes from "New Hampshire from Farm to Kitchen" a unique cookbook written by New Hampshire author Helen Brody. Brody will also speak about her book and autograph copies during the day.Growers' Dinner events are an effort of the New Hampshire Farm to Restaurant Connection, a program linking New Hampshire farms with New Hampshire restaurants. The Growers' Dinner at the Inn at Danbury is the second in a series, following a recent dinner at the Shaker Table in Canterbury on June 29. Growers Dinners are modeled after Wine Maker dinners made popular in California to highlight the local wine industry. Talented chefs create dishes that feature the products of selected local farmers. Menus are created to not only promote and commemorate the event, but to use as on-going public relations for both the farms and participating restaurants. These programs help to heighten awareness among the public for the quality, variety and availability of local products throughout New Hampshire. Both consumers and businesses are encouraged to purchase and enjoy New Hampshire's own whenever possible. There will be two opportunities to enjoy the seven course meal planned at the Inn at Danbury on July 31st, to accommodate as many people as possible at this charming and intimate setting. The first is lunch which begins at 12:30 pm and the second is dinner at 5:30 pm. Both meals begin with a reception featuring local wines. A tantalizing array of hors d'oeuvres, prepared by Chef Graf, will be offered for starters, including buffalo meat balls and a fresh greens salad. New Hampshire Commissioner of Agriculture, Steve Taylor will also be on hand to greet guests during the day. The meal will feature several savory dishes all made with items from local farms, including seasonal vegetables, cheeses, maple and more. The main entrees of the event will showcase New Hampshire chicken and pork. A decadent chocolate dessert caps the meal. Chef Graf will also greet diners and share some of his kitchen secrets. Space is limited at this special event and reservations are required. The inn is also offering a convenient "Stay and Dine" package.
